For the past three decades one group has been dominating the world of music by their music and the sheer diversity of everything they bring to the plate. That special group is none other than The Melvins. Since the time they first came onto the scene they have gone and done things their own way which has given them a very special place in the industry. They are out on tour so grab cheap The Melvins tickets and catch them up close and personal.

The Melvins was conceived in the year 1983 by three friends Mike Dillard, Buss Osborne and Matt Lukin who went to school together. They started off playing the music of the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Cream during those early days.  Shortly afterwards Dillard quit and was replaced by Dale Crover. They shifted their rehearsing sessions to Crover’s parent’s house and began to create music that was heavier but slower at the same time when compared with the type of music that was being made by others. Two years after the group’s creation the record label C/Z Records were formed to record the music scene that dominated the nation’s capital. C/Z came out with the legendary Deep Six album which contained for tracks by The Melvins.

The success of Deep Six paved the way for the group an EP titled Six Songs via C/Z Records on 8th February, 1986. Their debut full length album was titled Gluey Porch Treatments and it hit the music stores the next year. They followed that up with their next album Ozma in 1989. Their first LP Bleach was released on 15th June, 1989 and it was met with a lot of critical acclaim instantly.  Bullhead was The Melvins next creation. It had tracks that were longer in length than the ones that accompanied their previous releases. On top of that the sound was noticeably slower as well. The album was released in 1991 and was a huge critical hit that earned four stars out of five from Allmusic. They followed it up by going on a road trip across Europe and went straight to work on their next album when they returned home. Their next creation was an EP titled Eggnog and it turned out to be another hit with fans and critics alike.

The Melvins next full fledged album Houdini came out in 1993. It was a huge hit that went to prominent positions on various charts. The success of the album paved the way for the group to go and perform at festivals like the famous Lollapalooza. Another critical hit Stoner Watch was released in 1994. They experimented again with the next release, the album titled Prick. In 1996 they came out with Stag, their next album which also made its mark on critics and fans to reach notable positions on charts. What came next was an album that is still considered by a lot of people as the band’s biggest experiment. It was the album Honky that was released in May, 1997. The music was unconventional yet traditional which gave the album an entirely different feel altogether. Between May 1999 and February 2000, The Melvins came out with The Maggot, The Bootlicker and The Crybaby. All three albums was then repackaged as The Trilogy later on and released to much acclaim. Sandwiched between them was the Colossus of Destiny another experiment that came out in April, 2001.

Two years later they came out with a remixed greatest hit compilation titled Melvinmania: The Best of the Atlantic Years 1993-1996. The group then teamed up with Lustmord to release Pigs of the Roman Empire. They followed that up with another collaboration, this time with Jello Biafra, Never Breathe What You Can’t See. Both releases received a lot of praise from every corner by both fans and critics. Epics like (A) Senile Animal, Nude with Boots, The Bride Screamed Murder and Freak Puke came afterwards to immense applause and that solidified their status among the best once and for all. They have hit the road once again to perform for their fans everywhere. If you are one among their millions of supporters then book The Melvins tickets now.
