Seal is a British singer and songwriter. He is known most for singing in the R&B and soul genre. He was born and raised in London, but he is of Brazilian and Nigerian origin. He is an accomplished singer who has achieved a lot since his career began in the early 90s. He has won many prestigious awards and has sold millions of records. Amongst the awards he has won is the Brit Award which he won in the category of “Best British Male” thrice. He also won a Grammy Award four times and even has one MTV Video Music Award.

After some time that was spent in hiatus, the singer re-launched his career by appearing as a judge on the Australian television show, “The Voice”. Seal’s career was off to a rocky start, and one would find it hard to believe that the famous musician started of a performer at local bars. He even tried his luck as being part of a band in the 80s. This band was called Push, and they were a British funk group. The one good thing for Seal that came out of being part of this group was that they toured internationally, more notably in Japan, and this helped him to become a polished performer. During his time in Asia, he became a part of a blues group which was based in Thailand. His quest of different music styles through Asia continued as he departed this band too and decided to journey through India instead. Things were not looking up for him when he got back to England. He was staying at his friends’ places, sleeping on couches and surviving on very little. He would often ask his friends if he was a talented enough singer to which they would reply that he is perhaps a better singer than a lot of the artists on the charts at the time. Seal finally received his big break with a song called “Killer”. This was presented to him by producer Adamski with whom he recorded the track. The song became an instant hit in the year 1990. After the UK number one charting of his first ever song, Seal signed a recording contract with “ZTT Records” with whom he released his debut album; a self-titled record on which Trevor Horn served as the producer. There were two versions of the album going around—a premix edition and a later more producer version which was more common with the audience.
 
Because of his clean voice and his impeccable singing style, the musician was even well received by the critics. Fans were also quite keen on him as his songs “Crazy” and “Future Love Paradise” also did just as well on the charts as did his first song. His latest work before going in for his gig as a judge on “The Voice” was his seventh album entitles “Commitment”. This was released in late 2010 all around the world. The first single off the album was a track named “Secret” which was released on iTunes as well. According to him, the album was inspired by the singer’s wife of the time, model Heidi Klum. In 2011, he followed up this album with a cover record of some of his favorite soul songs.
 
Seal will continue on this tour through the rest of the year before he gets back to his job on Australia’s “The Voice”.
