The Los Angeles Clippers, commonly referred to as “the Clippers”, is the name of a professional basketball team based in Los Angeles, California.  It is a member of the Pacific Division of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and is gearing up for the new season. The team was founded at the onset of the 1970s and started out as the Buffalo Braves. The Braves were never a very good team, performing poorly during their first two years. The newly renamed team started off doing much better than its previous incarnation, but not for long. The team almost made it to the playoffs in its first season, but failed to win the final two games. For the next thirteen years, the Clippers would have a checkered career. During that time, the team did not have a single winning season. Fan attendance also dwindled. Eventually, the team was sold once again and moved to Los Angeles.
 
Now renamed the Los Angeles Clippers, the team struggled in its first few years. During these early years in L.A, the team had its worst season ever. However, starting in the early 1990s, the team drafted a number of key additions to its roster. This restructuring of the team eventually led it to become a strong playoff contender. In the 1991-92 basketball season, Larry Brown was hired as the team’s head coach. This change is personnel led the team to its first winning season in thirteen years. Eventually, the Clippers advanced to the playoffs but were eliminated once again. Regardless, the team was doing very well now. For the first time ever, the Clippers had a better record than the L.A Lakers. The team kept making regular changes to its roster as well as coaching staff. The team’s home arena was also changed to the Staples Center.
 
The Clippers managed moderate success in the early 2000s. At one point, former All-Star Dennis Johnson and Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul Jabbar were hired for coaching duties. In the first season of the new millennium, the Clippers added two players to its roster. These players were Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson. At this point, the team started to become very popular among fans. Fan attendance also rose as a result Los Angeles Clippers tickets became a hot commodity.
 
Over the next several years, the team continued to have success. The team was thoroughly “rebuilt” over four years and in 2006, the team won its first playoff game.
