Loretta Lynn is a country music singer, philanthropist and songwriter belonging to Butcher Hollow, Kentucky. Lynn was born to a coal miner and got married at the age of 13. Her relationship with her husband was her initial source of inspiration for the music. At the age of 24, she was gifted a guitar by her husband which she self-taught herself. That was the beginning of her musical career. She became a part of Nashville music industry during 60’s. In 1967 Lynn’s single charted for the first time. That was her very first mainstream success.
Loretta Lynn formed a band by the name “The Trailblazers” after singing for a few years at local pubs. The band also had her brother Jay Lee Webb . In 1977 Lynn released a tribute album by the name “Tribute” in 1977 for country music legend Patsy Cline who had died in 1963 in an airplane crash. Lynn remained in the Top Ten’s till 80’s. During 1978, Lynn released her solo song by the name “Out of My Head and Back into My Bed” which was a #1 hit. During 1979, two of her tracks “I’ve Got a Picture of Us In My Mind” and “I Can’t Feel You Anymore” made it to Top 5 chart.
Loretta Lynn was included in the “Country Music Hall of Fame” in 1988. In 1993 Lynn collaborated with Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton and released an album “Honky Tonk Angels”. The CD made it to Billboard Country charts at #6. More than 800,000 copies of the album were sold and it was Gold certified in United States.
After the passing of her husband in 1996, Loretta Lynn took a break from the music. In 2000, she returned with a new album “Still Country” in which she included a tribute song for her husband titled “I Can’t Hear the Music”. Her album from 2004 named “Van Lear Rose”, written entirely by Lynn herself, was a massive hit and was voted by Rolling Stone as the 2 nd best album of the year. 2010 saw the release of another of her album, named after her own nickname “Coal Miner’s Daughter: A Tribute to Loretta Lynn”.
