The Syracuse Crunch were incepted two decades ago in 1992. The place of their birth was Hamilton so they added Canucks next to it and the Hamilton Canucks took to the ice rink for the first time that year. They immediately joined hands with the Vancouver Canucks to and became their minor league affiliates. After taking the sixth spot in their first season, the Canucks went four steps up the ladder to go second in the South in the next campaign. The improvement was good enough to land them their first playoff spot when they were eliminated in the first round. The conclusion of that season also marked the end of their stay in Hamilton as they made their way to New York in the year 1994.
 
A new city called for a new name so a poll was conducted and five options were put forward. Crunch received the most voted and the team was re-named the Syracuse Crunch. Even though they had left Hamilton, they continued their affiliation with the Canucks. The Crunch went as high as the fifth spot in the first two seasons. The highlight came in the 2001-2002 season though. It was during that campaign that finally announced their arrival in some style. They went all the way to capturing the division championship that year. The Crunch have made it to the playoffs ten times since they began to play in Syracuse.
 
The Syracuse Crunch ended their affiliation with Hamilton Canucks in 2000 and teamed up with Columbus Blue Jackets. That arrangement lasted for the next decade after which the Crunch teamed up with Anaheim Ducks for a couple of years. Currently they are the development team off the Tampa Bay Lightning. They also hold the distinction of being one of the two teams to take part in the first ever outdoor AHL sanctioned game in history. The Crunch tool on the Binghamton Senators on 20^th February, 2010 and etched their names in history books by winning that historic game by a score of 2-1.
