The renowned architectural firm Foster and Partners were handed the responsibility of designing the structure. Sound Space Design were selected to develop the acoustics for the venue.
 
After three years of extensive hard work the Winspear Opera House opened its gates for the general public for the first time on 12^th October, 2009. The opera house has a total capacity of twenty two hundred and is now host to the Texas Ballet Theater and The Dallas Opera. Both these facilities were hosting their theatrical acts somewhere else prior to the opening of the opera house. The Winspear Opera House is surrounded by Annett and Harold Simmons Glass Façade from all sides that turns creates a see through wall between the performance park and the opera house itself to give it a stunning look. The seating at the venue can be adjusted to bring it down to as low as two hundred people.
