The indoor sports arena named United Center is situated in Chicago, Illinois in the region of West Madison Street. The arena was built at the site where previously Chicago Stadium , the predecessor for United Center was present that was also famous as the original Madhouse on Madison . The two guys who came up with the idea to build the arena also own and operate the arena at present.
Ever since the United Center was built in 1994, it has hosted many great events, predominantly from sports. It has a capacity to accommodate over 20,916 spectators for the games of basketball, 19,717 spectators for hockey games, and about 23,500 spectators for the arrangement of the arena for concerts. If the standing room area is also included, the capacity is increased to 23,129 and 22,428 for basketball and hockey respectively. This capacity is a result of the massive renovation that took place in 2009, before which the arena could accommodate only 21,711 spectators for basketball and 20,500 spectators for the games of hockey.
After the renovation, United Center has also been improved as far as its audio visual technologies and seating comfort is concerned. The renovations were at 300 levels, and included introduction of flat screen television displays from LG numbering to as much as 144 and numerous food and beverage areas that also give a panoramic view of the event taking place. The United Center has been traditionally called as the Madhouse on Madison , a name that appears on various signs and graphics visible prominently at the venue.
