Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Tickets Promo Code

Few musicians have been as outspoken as Tom Petty. The lead vocalist & rhythm guitarist has never been one to mince his words. A well publicized tussle with his record label due to his transference without prior consent was the rage in 1976, before public fallout over the pricing of his album. And channeling his frustrations creatively, Petty was as brash & uncompromising as ever regarding his assessment of the music industry in 2002’s The Last DJ. In the midst of all explosive controversies surrounding this intense character, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers have produced some memorably good music that has earned them top billing as leading exponents of classic rock’s old school feel. Although The Heartbreakers’ band members have consistently changed over the years, the nucleus of Tom Petty (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Mike Campbell (lead guitar) & Benmont Tench (piano, organ, synthesizer & backing vocals) is pretty much the same since the 1976 inception. Fans of heartland rock will want to catch a slice of the action on their latest tour with their Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers tickets.

Gainesville native Thomas Earl “Tom” Petty had a thorough grounding in music through his guitar teacher Don Felder (who later joined The Eagles). Petty started off his musical career in the 70s with a succession of little known bands like The Sundowners, The Epics & Mudcrutch. It was at Mudcrutch that Petty met drummer Randall Marsh & fellow musicians Mike Campbell & Benmont Tench. With “Depot Street” failing to chart, the latter two got together with Petty & recruited Ron Blair (bass) & Stan Lynch (drums) amid plans of starting a new band. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers released their eponymous debut album in 1976, & although US listeners did not warm to the album, it created a lot of hype in UK. A few singles charted later in the US, where listeners got interested after watching the British invasion by the band. The Heartbreakers were dragged into an unpleasant controversy when Petty refused to be transferred to a new label without consent as ABC was sold to MCA Records. He filed for bankruptcy. The band’s return to the recording scene with 1979’s Damn the Torpedoes was a blistering success but another feud erupted as MCA overpriced his next album prior to release by one dollar above the norm. With Petty’s public condemnation of the act, MCA went back on the idea & Hard Promises became a major hit. Howie Epstein replaced Blair on bass in 1982 & The Heartbreakers enjoyed critical success in the mid 80s with a bit of psychedelic rock experimentation before collaborations with Bob Dylan in the late 80s. The Heartbreakers registered a string of hits off Into the Great Wide Open & Greatest Hits in the early 90s. Singing for film soundtracks, Petty then let all lyrical hell loose on 2002’s The Last DJ, a critically acclaimed stinging attack on the face of the music industry. “Runnin’ down the Dream” was a 2007 four-hour film that chronicled the band’s fortunes over the years, & the Heartbreakers have managed to create quite a stir with the 2010 release of Mojo.

“Breakdown” & “American Girl” off the eponymous debut album both peaked at #40, introducing listeners to The Heartbreakers’ sound. 1978’s You’re Gonna Get It! Was certified gold, before Damn the Torpedoes & Hard Promises ushered in a successful early 80s era. “Refugee”(#15), “Don’t Do Me Like That”(#10) & a Stevie Nicks collaboration “The Waiting” made the albums hit triple platinum & platinum status respectively. Southern Accents went platinum on the back of the psychedelic “Don’t Come around Here No More” in 1985. Into the Great Wide Open & Greatest Hits comfortably crossed the platinum mark with “Learning to fly” & “Mary Jane’s Last Dance”. The Last DJ received great critical acclaim, while Mojo is currently doing the rounds.

The demand for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers tickets has increased manifold recently as the band announced their tour. It continues through New York & Philadelphia in late July before moving across America. The Heartbreakers will be hoping it follows the lead of earlier blockbuster concerts like Bob Dylan’s 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration & the Concert for George appearance.

Spearheaded by the competent & fiery Tom Petty, the Heartbreakers have established themselves as one of the more enduring rock acts of our generation. Fans would want to relive their timeless classic pieces, a luxury afforded by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers tickets.
