The New York Yankees moved the Richmond Club to the city and named it the Toledo Mud Hens. They became the Detroit Tigers affiliates in 1967. That coming together immediately paid dividends as the Mud Hens won the division the same year and followed that up with a league title in 1968.  The two teams parted ways in 1973 but got back together in 1987 and it has been a match made in heaven since.
 
The 2000’s have been very kind to them. They have won four division titles since 2002. On top of that, they have also managed to get their hands on a couple of league crowns since 2006 to solidify their status as one of the dominant forces in recent years.
