The duo that hails from a city that is considered to be the focal point of country music namely Nashville, Tennessee. The duo consists of singers Keifer Thompson and Shawna Thompson. Keifer was born in a city in Oklahoma and then he moved to Nashville. She met Shawna at a singing competition in Nashville and both become friends. Initially both singers tried to pursue solo careers but eventually joined hands and started performing as a duo. It started performing together in 2002.  The duo performed at various venues in and around the city but weren’t able to get a recording contract for almost eight years.  In 2010 Stony Creek Records signed and exclusive record deal with the duo.
 
Thompson Square released its debut self-titled album in 2010. This album instantly brought the duo into limelight as it landed at #3 on both US Independent Album and US Top Country Album charts. It also entered US Billboard at #15. The album received mostly positive reviews with Roughstock giving it four stars out of five. It contained twelve tracks including “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not”, “My Kind of Crazy”, “I Got You”, “Glass”, “Who Loves Who More”, “Lets Fight”, “I Don’t Wanna Miss You”, “One of Those days” and “If It Takes All Night”. “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not” till date is the most successful single by the duo as it topped the chart and earned a platinum certification. Other charting singles from this album were “Let’s Fight”, “I Got You”, “and Glass”.
 
Their second album is all set to be released and it will be titled Just Feels Good. One single from this album namely “If I Didn’t Have You” has already entered the charts. It raced to #11 on US Country Airplay and #17 on US Hot Country Songs. The duo has won three American Country Awards including Single by a Duo, Single by a Breakthrough Artist and Music Video by a New Artist. Thompson Square has also won an Academy of Country Music Award for Top Vocal Duo of the Year.
