The Script was founded by two musician friends in 2002 in Dublin, Ireland. The two friends were guitarist Mark Sheehan and singer Danny O’Donoghue. They had been together since childhood and grew up in Dublin. Initially they both joined a local band by the name of Mytown. Both Mark and Danny were soon recognized for their talent and they moved to Canada and the US for sometime where they had the chance to work with well known music producers like Teddy Riley and Dallas Austin. After staying in the US for sometime both friends got a little disappointed as they were unable to get any major breakthrough. Soon they moved back to their native city and asked drummer Glen Power to join and this was the start of the band.
 
In 2005, the trio released their first EP but major recognition came to the band in 2008 with the release of the first studio album that was self-titled. Major chart positions for this debut album were #1 Irish, #1 UK, #6 Swedish, #9 Australian and #15 Denmark.
 
The Script released its second studio album in 2010 that was named Science & Faith. This was also a major hit going once again multiple platinum in Ireland and platinum in UK and Australia. This was their first album that was released by Epic and RCA Records. Science & Faith like the previous album topped Irish and UK charts and also landed at #2 on Australian, #3 on US Billboard and #14 on Netherland charts. #3 is their latest album that went on sale at the end of 2012. It also went platinum but was not able to sell as good as the previous two. It was again #1 on Irish charts and managed to land at #2 in UK. It has got some chart hitting singles to its name such as “We Cry”, “For the First Time”, “Hall of Fame”, “Breakeven” and “Six Degrees of Separation”. Out of these songs, Hall of Fame proved to be the highest grossing single by the band. It featured American recording artist and singer Will.i.am. This single was from the album #3 and received 4x platinum certification in Ireland and 2x platinum in New Zealand. Breakeven went double platinum in Ireland and Australia. Music videos were made of songs namely “Hall of Fame”, “Science & Faith”, “Talk You Down”, “If You Ever Come Back”, “For the First Time” and “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved”.
