English post punk band The Psychedelic Furs, were formed in 1977 and are counted among the many artist that emerged on the British post punk front. The band, mainly led by vocalist Richard Butler along with this brother Tim as the bass guitarist, went though several different phases with reference to its changing sound and style beginning with an eccentric art rock style and then going on to brush with hard rock and new wave sounds. In its early years, the group produced many hits but did not make it to international popularity until 1986 when John Hughes, the director of the film Pretty in Pink, used their song by the same name. The Psychedelic Furs became a hit in the US with the release of their second album titled Talk Talk Talk in 1981, which brought the group on the Billboard 200 chart. The group gained fame in New Zealand when the album peaked at number eight on the charts, marking their first in a series of hit albums to top among the top ten of New Zealand charts. The album produced two singles on UK charts which included the initial version of their hit track Pretty in Pink and Dumb Waiters. With an impressive string of hits such as Love My Way, All That Money Wants, and The Ghost in You, the band had become a major part of radio content of both college and modern rock stations in the US by the mid eighties. At the same time the group gained immense popularity on both shores of the Atlantic but as biographer Dave Thompson puts it, this success was not much compared to the influence their music would have on future musicians.
 
From the late eighties onwards, The Psychedelic Furs’ singles experienced steady charting success producing three chart-topping hits on US Modern Rock charts with the songs All That Money Wants released in 1988, House issued in 1990 and the track Until She Comes topping in 1991. Since their 1991 album release World Outside, the band has not issue another studio album but has released several compilation albums. In 2001, they released an all new single Alive on their live album titled Beautiful Chaos.
