Spiderman the Musical opens with Mary Jane Watson, neighbor of Peter Parker falling off the New York City Bridge when she is saved by the Spiderman. Peter Parker is not popular among his peers in school. He is often bullied by Flash Thompson, who feels excited to bully him. Both Mary Jane and Peter Pan have ill-fated family life. Peter’s parents died in a plane crash and he lived with his uncle and aunt. Peter along with his high school class toured Osborne’s laboratory where Peter was bitten by a genetically altered spider. He goes insane after it and turns into Green Goblin. Peter gets captured by the Green Goblin for a short time and gets to know that Mary Jane is prisoned. He rescues her while defeating the Goblin. Spiderman becomes popular when he kills the six main villains of the city. Arachne tells Peter that great responsibility comes with great power. Peter spends some time with Mary Jane while the city turns into chaos by the villains. He becomes indecisive about what path to take. Suddenly he sees Mary Jane falling from the Bridge and is unable to do anything. Then he realizes that it was a dream to motivate him to be Spiderman again.  Arachne pleads to free her from the curse fallen on her due to her failed suicide attempt. She is halfway between life and death. She asks him to kill her otherwise she will kill Mary Jane who is her captive. He is unable to fight her but her noose is pulled and she dies completely. Peter gets Mary Jane out and they reunite. All of a sudden, sirens are heard in the background. Mary Jane does not know that Peter is Spiderman but Peter starts climbing up and up.

Spiderman the Musical’s early developments started in 2005 with production by Tony Adams, who later died due to a stroke. But the creative team decided to carry on with the project under the production of David Garfinkle, partner of Adam. Garfinkle deligated all the artistic decisions to Ms. Taylor who is a perfectionist and has worked with “The Lion king” team. The musical faced many complications all along its making phase. The changes were made in the creative team and the cast, the musical faced budget constraints and then there were cast injuries and further replacements.
