Date & Time

The Bee Gees is a pop and disco act that was formed in 1958. The group was entirely a family affair as it consisted of three brothers: Robin, Maurice and Barry Gibb. Although the band met with success throughout the stretch of its career, there were two eras in particular that really solidified their image as pop culture icons. These were the pop music years in the 1960s, and the definitive disco era of the 1970s. They were almost the poster children of the highly popular disco movement of the time. The Bee Gees have left behind a legacy that will continue on to the next generation of pop singers as well. With the recent death of Robin Gibb, performers all over are paying homage to the artist that defined an era. But no matter which of The Bee Gees tribute you attend, no performer would be able to mimic the perfect vibrato and the melodious falsetto that the trio made their signature. Back in the day, anyone who would give one listen to the three-part harmonies could tell almost instantly who the singers were. In the early parts of their career, their style of singing had more vibrato to enhance the pop sound, but as they entered the 1970s, Barry Gibb’s falsetto became the style people would come to associate most with the Bee Gees. The brothers were not just singers—they were complete artists who wrote almost all of the songs they sang. They produced records for themselves and for other artists as well.

But before you get The Bee Gees tribute tickets, it is important to know a little bit about where the band came from. The brothers spent their early years in England, first in Charlton, Manchester, England, where they were born and raised. Sometime in the 50s, the three moved to Australia in Radcliffe, Queensland, and their music career truly began. They produced and recorded some music, but success did not come right away. It was by their 12th single. “Spicks and Specks” that the Bee Gees finally managed to get on the charts. Still, their accomplishment was limited to Australia only, so in 1967, they returned to England to work with Robert Stigwood, their producer, who wanted to expand their scope to a worldwide level.

All of The Bee Gees tribute shows will be paying homage to one of the best selling performers to ever have existed. In their career, they have sold over 220 million records, only behind The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and Garth Brooks. In 1997, the group received a “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” induction. Around this time, they had started to be known as “Britain’s first family of harmony”. And so, to present the honor, Brian Wilson—member of the “Beach Boys”, also a three part band consisting of brothers—was selected. The Bee Gees’ citation at the “Hall of Fame” mentions how only very few artists have managed to outsell them.

Maurice Gibbs died suddenly in 2003, which led the other two brothers to give up the band altogether after nearly 45 years. By 2009, however, it was announced that Robin and Barry are to get back together and start performing again. They performed for the first time after their hiatus on the BBC show, “Strictly Come Dancing”. A month later, they appeared on the US version of this show, ABC network’s “Dancing With the Stars”. In 2010, the two inducted another disco group into the “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame”: ABBA. In May of 2010, they also appeared on the Fox network’s hit show, “American Idol” for their season finale. At this time, they also confirmed that Steven Spielberg will be directing their biopic. In early 2012, Robin Gibb performed with the military group, “The Soldiers” for a charity show. This appearance, however, was his last. On the 20th of May, 2012, Robin Gibb passed away after a 2 year battle with cancer. Barry Gibb now remains the only member of the Bee Gees alive.

The Bee Gees tribute shows will be performed to honor the legacy of this band. Amongst the people who will be spending the summer paying homage to the band are “The Australian Bee Gees Shows”, “The Bee Gees Tribute Theatre Show”, and the “Bee Gees Tribute Band”. The Bee Gees tribute tickets are now on sale online.
