Sting was born in the year 1951 as Gordon Mathew Summer in the city of Wallsend in UK. While in his school days he loved watching performances of legends like Jimi Hendrix and Cream. The Police is placed at #70 on 100 greatest Immortals Artists of All Times list of Rolling Stone magazine .

Sting embarked on a successful solo career in the year 1985 with the release of The Dream of the Blue Turtles . This album went 2x and 3x Platinum respectively in UK and the US. After this Sting went to churn Platinum albums one after the other. His two albums namely Nothing Like Sun and The Soul Cages both landed at #1 on UK Top 100 with both albums going Platinum. In the year 1993 Sting released one of his most successful albums called Ten Summoner’s Tales , this album went 3x and 2x Platinum in US and UK respectively, it was at #2 on both UK and US Billboard 200. Another multiplatinum album by Sting was released in 1999 called Brand New Day which reached #9 position on US Billboard. One single “Desert Rose” was extremely popular across the globe and landed at #17on US Hot 100 and #3 on US Adult Contemporary Charts. His latest album till date is Symphonicites which was released in July 2010, this album failed to chart.
