The Stars on Ice show is a figure skating touring extravaganza that features popular athletes from the men and women’s singles categories, pairs, and ice dancers. IMG produces the show, and has been doing so since 1986. The idea for a touring series for skaters came when Scott Hamilton, the first American to win the gold medal for the US in men’s singles figure skating, was told that skaters will never have commercial appeal. He thus decided to start his own show and invited others in his sport to join him. It has now become an important part of the popular culture, selling out each time it is announced.
