The Spokane Shock were formed in the year 2006. There were a lot of talks being held about bringing arena football to Spokane for the residents of the area to enjoy. These discussions had been going on for quite a considerable length of time. That is when Brady Nelson stepped in. It was the year 2005 when he, along with two more partners of his set about giving people of Spokane their own arena football team.
 
A meeting was held on 26^th August, 2005 where Brady and his team put forward their application in front of Jerry Kurz, the Arenafootball2 commissioner. The proposal was accepted and Spokane was given its own expansion side. That was a big moment for everyone associated with the team as they had worked for years in making the dream come true.
 
The next step was to put the coaching staff and the roster in place. Chris Siegfried was given the task of becoming the team’s first ever coach. A total of thirteen players were added to the ranks before the year drew to a close. The response for the local community was overwhelming. The Spokane Shock took to the field for the first time on 30^th March, 2006. Their opponents that day were another new team, the “Stockton Lightning.” It was a very close game that was won by Shock by a score of forty one to forty. That was a start of a campaign that ended with them going on to clinch the division title in their first season. Not only that but they went on to lift the league title as well to cap off a memorable debut campaign for everyone associated with the franchise. They didn’t let their guard down and went on a roll from that point onwards. They won their second successive division title next year. It didn’t stop there and Shock went on to make it a hat trick of division crowns in 2008.
 
The team repeated what they did in the debut campaign in the year 2009, their last season as an af2 team as they joined Arena Football later that year. They came out firing on all cylinders and went on to win both the division and the league championships to complete their second double.  The achievement was repeated next season, their first as an Arena Football team, to turn them into one of the most successful teams in the sport.
