The Rialto Theatre Tucson was opened in the year 1920 and was jointly built by William Curlett and Son. In the year 1929, the place was sold off to a company called the Paramount Publix. During the recession of the year 1963, the theater was closed down. However, it was brought back to life some time later, changing its name yet again, this time naming it the El Cine Plaza. Currently, the Rialto Theatre Tucson is under the ownership of the Rialto Theatre Foundation, which is a non-profit organization. The venue has Douglas Biggers as its executive director.
