The Rockettes History
The Rockettes took their inspiration from the Tiller Girls which was a dance company founded in the United Kingdom way back in the 1890s. They came to perform in the US for the first time in 1900. In 1922, Russell Markert saw them perform for the first time and decided to form the American version with dancers. That formed the basis of the formation of the Rockettes in the city of St. Louis.
