One of the very few alternate steam bands from the 80’s have sustained success and enjoyed fame like Primus. Primus is Les Claypool (bassist/vocalist), Larry LaLonde (guitarist) and Jay Lane (drummer). The band’s music presents characteristic variations of outright Funk; mostly rock and metal. They have remained main stream with alternative and progressive rock. More so, their sound is bold and irreverently experimental. Critic circles and the band itself review their themes to be mocking and work to be rather idiosyncratic.

Beginning with Suck on This they delivered a couple of albums that remained mildly successful in the underground scene. T ales from the Punchbowl brought them commercial fame with the hit single, Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver . Albums Brown Album and Antipop along with South Park’s theme song bought them further commercial recognition. For two decades Primus hunted for a consistent line up. Finally Claypool and LaLonde came together for the EP Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People . Extensive lineup of tours loaded with brought good old Lane back to Primus. The fading quirkiness of their music and impertinent inspiration led Primus to a revival with June 2010 Rehearsal EP.

Their eight studio album after the reunion, Green Naugahyde will be released this September worldwide. Primus will promote it on their tour across North America. The band will be performing live in New York at the Main Street Armory, Rochester on 8 th October, 2011. Their touring has been a very successful and fruitful exercise.
