Today, music comes in many forms and colors. While every decade from the 1960’s has been the decade of a certain form of music (we had the blues years, the rock years and the pop years), the 2000’s have been a pleasant surprise for all fans of music as this decade has introduced us to many types of music genres and a number of artists from all over the musical spectrum have ruled the charts this decade. We have seen number one records by rock bands, rap artists have ruled the charts for months and country artists have set the charts on fire. One genre that was almost under represented this decade is R&B. One artist who has made sure that the R&B genre has representation in music this decade is Marsha Ambrosias.

Marsha Ambrosias hails from London, England and is most known for being one half of the singing poetry duo ‘Floetry’. She formed the band in 1997 in London when she met a fellow poet from Liverpool. They both met due to their love for baseball but soon found that they had more in common when they both started taking part in spoken poetry readings and competitions. They garnered enough buzz in their native country to be able to make it across the ocean to the US where they performed at a number of popular poetry clubs and received much critical praise. It was during this time that they were offered a record deal and released their debut album in the US. The album garnered a number of hit singles and was a great success for the duo who went on to release a live album and a follow up album that also had top ten singles. They stayed together and toured for a decade before they both decided to go their separate ways in 2007.

Even after she left Floetry, Marsha Ambrosias was in great demand as a songwriter and collaborative singer. During her time away from the forefront of music, she wrote songs for the likes of Michael Jackson, Alicia Keys and Lemar while she worked with artists like Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne, The Game and rap legend Nas. Her constant work behind the scenes in the music scene led to her solo debut becoming a much coveted and awaited occurrence. Marsha Ambrosias was signed to Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Records for a number of years but failed to release any material due to creative differences with the record company. She later went on to sign with J Records and this is the label that released her debut solo album ‘Late Nights & Early Mornings’.

Marsha Ambrosias released her debut solo album in March, 2011 to much critical acclaim and commercial success. The album garnered 4-5 star reviews from most publications that reviewed it and managed to climb to the top of the US R&B charts while it reached number 2 on the Billboard 200 charts. The great success of the album was led by the hit singles ‘Hope She Cheats on You’ and ‘Far Away’, both songs garnering much attention from the fans. Fans loved Marsha Ambrosias for her sultry vocals on the album and her ability to convey every emotion through her crisp voice. The album, as described by most critics, is ‘fearless, confident and straightforward’. This means that the singer does not hold back when she writes and is not scared of singing about taboo subjects.

If you are a fan of the genre of R&B, Marsha Ambrosias is an artist you do not want to miss. She is currently on tour of the US and will definitely be making her way to your city soon enough. Make sure you get your Marsha Ambrosias tickets way beforehand so you can make it to this amazing R&B event.
