Date & Time

Justice was formed in 2003 by two French musicians Xavier de Rosnay and Gaspard Auge. The bands music is based on nu-disco, French house and electro rock. Ithas now turned into a world wide phenomenon with Justice tickets sold to full houses everywhere they go and play.
Justice initially produced tracks like “Hits Up to You” which was a concept version and the songs were meant to sound as if they were produced for Eurovision song contests. Justice got their first big break in 2003 when they remixed “Never Be Alone” by Simian. That remix was such a hit that one of the biggest French label companies Ed Banger signed them. Ed Banger then officially released the song and it became a big hit over the worldwide web and clubs. The song was released commercially in the UK in 2006 titled “We Are Your Friends”. That was the point when Justice were considered a remix specialist and they went on to create remixes for other French bands like Scenario Rock, Gambit and Vicarious Bill and different other international music sensations like Daft Punk, N*E*R*D, Fatboy Slim and Britney Spears.
The bands debut solo song “Waters of Nazareth” was released by Ed Banger Records which got brilliant feedback by DJs like Tiga, Temple-Morris, Ivan Smagghe and Erol Alkan. Nominations and awards started following Justice as their music started becoming popular. MTV Europe Music Awards in 2006 was when they got their first major award in the category Best Video for “We Are Your Friends”. The duo then released their second single in May 2007 titled “D.A.N.C.E.” This song would go on to become the first song of their first album “†” released in the US by Ed banger the same year. The album also included the bands remixed version of D.A.N.C.E. titled “B.E.A.T.” “D.A.N.C.E.” received a nomination for “Video of the Year” award at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2007. Justice won awards for “Video Star” at the European Music Awards along with “Best French Act of The Year”. The band also got nominated in the categories of Best Electronic/Dance Album for “†” and “D.A.N.C.E” got nominated for Best Dance Recording at the Grammy Awards. To further increase the profile of the band and interact with their fans, Justice went on tour at different festivals around the world in 2007 and 2008.

Justice faced controversy when their music video for the song “Stress” was banned by various TV stations and they had to upload it to youtube. The video showed a youth group involved and committing harassment and vandalism with the cross of the band on the back of their jackets. It was also criticized for being racist towards African descent youth and in an interview later Auge defended the concept behind the video by saying “ If people see racism in the video, it’s definitely because they might have a problem with racism; because they only see black people beating up white people, which is not what happens.” Justice put all the negativity behind them and moved on by doing major projects that included doing a project for the “Dior Homme Summer 2009 Fashion Show.” That song is now called “Planisphere” which was released in four parts by the duo on their bands MySpace page. The band announced their next album will be titled “A Cross the Universe”, a DVD documentary/concert film. Fans were invited to send artworks and images to be selected as the official cover for the album. Justice’s lead single from their latest album titled “No Line on the Horizon” was a remixed version of a song “Get on Your Boots” by U2 which was followed by the duos new single “Civilization”.
From its creation as a band that remixed songs of other bands and artists to the multi-award winner trendsetter we see today, Justice has certainly come a long way. It has made its mark on the music industry and its fans. The special place they have created for themselves sells Justice tickets worldwide everywhere they go to perform.
