Born in 1983 in Detroit, Kramer developed a passion for country music at a naive age. She started learning how to play the guitar while she was still attending Rochester Adams High School. Before launching herself as a country singer, she decided to pursue several acting opportunities that made their way to her. Here Kramer was seen portraying the character of Noelle Davenport throughout the second season. After her contract with NBC ended, Kramer was approached by CW to star in their reboot production of Beverly Hills 90210; 90210 in 2009. Playing the role of Portia Ranson, a high-school student in the second season, Kramer displayed her diverse acting skill-set. In the same year, Kramer was approached for a regular role of Alex Dupre in CW’s One Tree Hill. Acting in the series from the seventh season till the ninth, Kramer finally left the show in 2011 to pursue her true passion in life; country music. In the same year the singer was seen making her promotional singing debut on One Tree Hill’s episode titled “Holding Out for a Hero”. The song “I Won’t Give Up” which she performed on the series was able to make its way to the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. Two months later, Kramer made another promotional song release via One Tree Hill in which she performed her song “Whiskey”. This song too, was charted on the Billboard Hot 100. 

Working with the record producer Scott Hendricks, Jana Kramer came forth with her debut self-titled album release in 2012. Released through the Elektra Nashville Label, this album debuted on the fifth spot of the US Country Album Chart. Reaching a digital sales figure of over a hundred thousand copies, the release was numbered nineteenth on the US Billboard 200 Chart.
