Heart is a spectacular American band from Seattle that rose to fame during the sixties and has been active since then. Regarded today as one of the greatest rock bands of all time, it is known for its hard rock music and its folk rock, two flavors of rock it has perfected to date. This is a band that has been active since 1967, releasing hit single and album after album. Its music has been released by a large number of major record labels, including Epic, BMG, Sony, EMI, Capitol, Sony Legacy and Mushroom. Its members today are original members, singer Ann Wilson and guitarist Nancy Wilson, as well as Ben Smith, Debbie Shair, Craig Bartock and Dan Rothchild. Heart rose to fame first in Canada and then in the US during the late sixties and seventies, releasing music influence a lot by folk music, hard rock and even heavy metal. During the eighties, the band continued releasing music, with its hard rock tunes topping charts and selling millions of albums. Today, this is a band whose music has sold more than thirty million copies in the world, with twenty two million of these sold in the US. This is a band that has been ranked as one of the 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock by VH1. Its albums have made it to the top ten of the Billboard Album Charts continuously since the seventies, hardly surprising for a band that has a place in the famous Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
 
Heart was founded in 1967 as The Army with lead vocalist Don Wilhelm, guitarist Roger Fisher and drummer Ray Schaefer. In 1970, Ann Wilson joined the band, followed by her sister Nancy Wilson in 1974. The band then moved to Vancouver where they began performing concerts and recorded demos, with producer Mike Flicker and keyboardist Howard Leese. Their first album was recorded at Vancouver’s Can–Base Studios, today known as Mushroom Studios. They were then signed onto Mushroom Records, a label owned by the same people behind the studio. Their first album was a massive success in Canada, selling more than thirty thousand copies in a short amount of time.
 
Their debut album was also released in the US, spawning two hit songs, which ranked as high as ninth on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. The album itself ranked seventh on the Billboard 200, with more than a million copies sold in the US soon after. Their next album, Little Queen, was released in  1978 and it ranked high on the charts, followed by being certified platinum in the US. The band appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone, with the Wilson sisters gaining international fame for their music. Their concerts attracted over a hundred thousand people, with performances at the likes of the Texxas Jam where they played with bands such as Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, Van Halen and Journey.
 
In 1978, they released Dog and Butterfly, an album that only ranked high on the Billboard 200 but was also certified double platinum. In 1980, they released the album Bebe le Strange which spawned a number five single and ranked in the top ten of the charts. They would continue releasing popular albums from then on. During the eighties and nineties, they released albums such as a 1985 self–titled release that ranked first on the charts and sold more than five million copies, with four top ten singles.
 
Today, this is a band that is synonymous with awesome rock music. It has won countless awards and honors, with international fame. Ann and Nancy Wilson are recipients of Hollywood Walk of Fame stars. They have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and have sold more than thirty million albums to date. Twenty of their songs have ranked high on the charts with seven of their albums ranking in the top ten of the charts. They have received four Grammy Award nominations with the Wilson sisters receiving the Founders Award from ASCAP. It is thus hardly a surprise that many Heart tickets are sold each year for their sensational concerts.
