Hard Summer Tour is one of the brands of Hard , a concert brand, music cruise and a national music festival. It was founded in 2007 by Gary Richards . Some of the other brands of Hard, along with Hard Summer Tour are, Holy Ship, Turkey Soup, Hard 13, Hard Haunted Mansion and Hard Summer Music Festival. The brand invites upcoming talented musicians playing in various and diverse music genres like house, dubstep, alternative rock, dance punk, electronic dance music, alternative dance, techno, and electronic rock.

Hard , the brand, which is becoming more of a phenomenon now, debuted on December 31, 2007 in Los Angeles . Peaches and 2 Live Crew along with a French band, Justice , performed on that evening. Ever since then Richards worked his magic and scores of bands have been invited to Hard events, all across the United States and Canada. In the past, bands and artists like Destructo, Harvard Bass, Congorock, DJ Falcon, Brodinski, Mr. Oizo, Yelawolf, Flying Lotus, Tiga, A-Trak, Nero, Burns, AC Slater, Booka Shade, Jack Beats, Erol Alkan, Calvin Harris, Boys Noize, Underworld and many others have graced the occasion with their thrilling performances.

Hard Summer Tour, which debuted in August 2010, was another of Richards bright ideas, wherein he wanted to take the talent of upcoming artists, all over the US and Canada. Twelve dates and venues were finalized including Baltimore, New York, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Austin, Denver, Oakland, Montreal and Toronto . New and emerging bands and artists like Destructo, Sinden, Rusko, Crystal Castles, The Twelves and Proxy were invited to perform. All the artists and bands were highly appreciated and won accolades both from the fans and critics, while making Hard Summer Tour a must musical experience to have. It is hard to classify the multitalented Crystal Castles since they play wide genres of music like chiptune, indietronica, noise, experimental and electronic music. The band which hails from Toronto, Canada, has earned a reputation for putting on chaotic live performances and lo-fi home productions. It consists of only two members, Alice Glass (vocalist and lyricist) and Ethan Kath (producer). The band has released two albums so far; Crystal Castles (2010) and Crystal Castles (2008). In addition, they have also released several limited EP’s. Some of their more memorable singles have been, “Not in Love”, “Baptism”, “Celestica”, “Courtship Dating”, “Air War”, “Crimewave”, and “Alice Practice”.

Digitalism is a unique band which hails from Hamburg, Germany. The band, also a duo, plays dance punk and electro house music. It consists of Ismail “Isi” Tufekci and Jens “Jence” Moelle. To date, the band has released two albums, I Love You Dude (2011), and Idealism (2007). Some of their most memorable remixes, EP’s, and singles are: “2 Hearts”, “Blitz EP”, “Kitsune Tabloid: Mixed by Digitalism”, “Moshi Moshi EP”, “Terrorlight”, “Jupiter Room”, “Zdarlight”, and “Idealistic”. They are said to be influenced by film soundtracks and Daft Punk. Their music has been played by Boys Noize and Justice, Soulwax, and DJ Erol Alkan. Digitalism has in turn remixed music for big name bands like, Cut Copy, Depeche Mode, Monk, White Stripes, Klaxons, Tiga, Daft Punk, The Futureheads, Tom Vek, and The Presets.

Rusko is England born DJ and record producer, who has released two albums, O.M.G.! and Caspa & Rusko .
