Lightfoot went on to release two singles in the year 1962. They were titled Remember Me (I’m the One) and Negotiations / It’s Too Late, He Wins respectively. Both songs became hits in Toronto as well in some other parts of the country. The former managed to reach the number three spot on CHUM radio, and the latter reached the twenty seventh spot.
Gordon Lightfoot gained international recognition in the 1960s due to his songs, Ribbon of Darkness, Steel Rail Blues and Early Morning Rain. The former became a number one success in the country charts in the United States. In the 1970s, his music began to make a significant impact on the music charts internationally, due to tracks like The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Rainy Day People, Carefree Highway, Sundown, and If You Could Read My Mind among various more as well. Many of his albums have gone on to be certified multi platinum and gold internationally.
