Fargo Force is a junior Tier 1 ice hockey team that is based in Fargo, North Dakota. Currently competing in United States Hockey League’s Western Conference, this franchise was formed in the year 2008 as an official team. It was in 2007 that the city of Fargo was granted approval by the USHL to establish an ice hockey team. At that point the home ground for the new team was decided to be Urban Plains Center, now known as the Scheels Arena. The general manager and coach of this newly formed team was Dean Blais, who was a former coach of Sioux’s North Dakota Fighting Program. The name of the franchise was narrowed down to Fargo Fire, Fargo Phantoms and Fargo Force; after voting the name Fargo Force was decided. Upon this team’s arrival into the hockey league in the year 2008, an old hockey team of the area, the Fargo Moorhead Jets repositioned.

After coaching the team for one season and taking the franchise to the Clark Cup Finals, Blais decided to take coaching position with another team. His place was taken by Chad Johnson, who was again able to lead the team to the finals in the season 2009-10. His position was replaced by Jason Herter and finally a year after by John Marks, who is the team’s current coach. Supporting the colors blue, black and white, the current roster of the Force consists of thirteen forward position strikers who play to score from the left, center and right wings. There are eight defensemen who are distributed into categories of defensive zone, offensive zone and neutral zone and two goal tenders.

This facility is a multi-purpose center that was inaugurated in 2008 and is operated by the Metro Sports Foundation. Costing approximately twenty seven million dollars to build, this venue hosts ice hockey and basketball games on regular basis. Providing seating space for almost six thousand audiences at a single event, this center has held games such as the “IIHF World U18 2009 Championship”, the “US Curling Nationals in 2011”, “Max Fights” and “DFC Spring Brawls”.
