It featured the song Suffer to Sing the Blues and The Holdup which became radio favorites and received massive airplay. The songwriting collaboration for the song, The Holdup was done with former Beatle George Harrison. Moving forward, from 1971 and 1976, Bromberg recorded more albums with Columbia. He also started touring extensively. With continuing tours and albums his music range also diversified. His band also grew as several multi-instrumentalists joined him.

Bromberg signed with Fantasy Records in 1977. His first album with this label was Reckless Abandon. David Bromberg went on to release three more albums with them after which he got tired of his routine and touring pressures. By 1980s he was doing only occasional shows and playing session for friends. At this time he also started studying at the Kenneth Warren School of Violin Making in Chicago. In 1990, David released his album Sideman Serenade and after the release, David decided to change his direction of life and disappeared from the music scene. Bromberg stopped performing and turned to violin making.  In 2007, after a long period he returned to prove himself once again with his album Try Me One More Time. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Folk Album in 2008.

The solo set of new blues and folk tunes were still fresh and had his unique touch with intuitive mix of American styles. With years of hiatus the musician’s work was fresh and remarkable as ever.
