The Avalon Hollywood is a picture perfect musical and night club venue that was constructed in 1927 at the 1735 Vine St. It opened its door to the public for the first time as The Hollywood Playhouse. The design is based on the Spanish colonial architecture. It got to a slow start a lot of which was due in no small part to the Great Depression. During those solemn days it was given a new name, The WPA Federal Theatre that was in use for various events sponsored by the state.
