Austin Rodeo is a live stock show that took place for the first time in the year 1940 as a result of collaboration between a couple of young ambitious men who attempted to do something different. Their yearning for giving quality entertainment to their city made them see dream that was destined to be fulfilled. It was then that they organized the very first Baby Beef Show in their city. This event took place at the West Street and Congress Avenue.
 Austin Rodeo is organized by the Austin Chamber of Commerce and the Travis County Agricultural Extension Service. In the year 1952, Tex Ritter who is a country music singer and actor, participated in the rodeo and entertained everyone with his music. After getting a favorable response the administration decided to rides, agricultural demonstrations and other such attractions. Due to the constantly increasing popularity of Austin Rodeo the venue of the event changed and the show was transferred to the Municipal Market House. The animals that were sold in the auction were all slaughtered their after the show. In the year 1944 women became a part of this show as well and variety of other animals was included in the collection.
 
Austin Rodeo was an event that became famous very quickly and the number of people of took part in the event increased by many folds as well. During the 1980s the organizers felt the need of having a separate large and open space for the rodeo and keeping this in mind they decided to buy one hundred and twenty eight acres of land.
