ASAP Rocky is the stage name of American music video director and rapper, Rakim Mayers, who is a well known member of the collective hip hop ASAP Mob. Born and brought up in the NYC neighborhood of Harlem, the artist released his very first mixtape in 2011 called LiveLoveA$AP, which received significant critical acclaim with singles Purple Swag and Peso, gaining critical appreciation for the album’s production aesthetics as well as for Rocky’s charismatic notes. The tape was a part of the many of-of-the-year lists of top albums by publications and critics. The album features several guest appearances from Gunplay, Joey Badass, Action Bronson, Danny Brown, Yelawolf, Big K.R.I.T., Drake, 2 Chainz, Kendrick Lamar, OverDoz, Santigold, Schoolboy Q, Florence Welch and A$AP Ferg. The record’sprodction has been handled by the high-profile likes of Emile Haynie, Skrillex, T-Minus, Danger Mouse, Noah ‘40’ Shebib, Clams Casino, Hit-Boy, A$AP Ty Beats, and Soufien3000.
