Arizona Broadway Theatre is a venue that enriches the community of Arizona by making meaningful contributions to the area’s culture in the form of powerful theatrical performances and high quality entertainment.

The idea behind the construction of Arizona Broadway Theatre was to build such a place which would become the hub of all entertainment in the area, and which would combine professional theater with a dining experience of high quality. Its actual construction started in the fall of 2004 and was expected to be completed by the fall of 2005. However, things did not go as planned and the venue was not ready for its first show, Anything Goes . And so the show took place in the pavilion of Peoria Sports Complex and the food that was served was from a dugout kitchen. Moreover, there were a number of disturbances in the form of baseballs hitting the roof and sounds coming from the street at inconvenient times, but the show went well.

The response was even more enthusiastic when Arizona Broadway Theatre buildingofficially opened in January 2006 for its second show called Brigadoon . Still, the kitchen was incomplete and the food had to be brought from other sources. The costume shop was under construction and had to be temporarily set up in the apartment of the costume director. Despite these problems, the productions were being successfully held at the venue. It was only after the fourth production that the whole place became fully functional. Among its most distinctive features are a three thousand square-foot large kitchen and The Encore Room which is a banquet area near the lobby used for numerous purposes including special events, dinners, galas and parties.

In its very first year, Arizona Broadway Theatre earned twenty four The ariZoni Theatre Awards of Excellence nominations in thirteen categories. It won seven awards. Encouraged, the venue organized even better performances in coming seasons. In their second season, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying was staged. Grease was a favorite of the audiences. It was given extension and its tickets were all sold-out in a short time. In season three, Little Shop of Horrors was performed. The special theatrical techniques like a multi-level set and a trap door used in this performance indicated the fact that Arizona Broadway Theatre was keeping up with new developments in the field. Other performances in the third season were Fiddler on the Roof , Jekyll & Hyde , Nunsence , The Music Man and Ain’t Misbehavin’ . Towards the end of the season, the theatre had completed its thousand performances.

Besides entertainment, Arizona Broadway Theatre established its Academy for Young Performers in the summer of 2006 to help children in pursuing a career in performing arts.
