During the early 1990s, Angelique had become one of the most famous live performers in the city. During this period, she also released her debut solo album 'Parakou'. The album placed her under the limelight and caught the attention of Chris Blackwell who signed Angelique to his label Island Records in 1991.
In 1991, Angelique released her third studio album 'Logozo'. Produced by Joe Galdo, the album was recorded in Paris and Miami. It featured Manu DiBango and Branford Marsalis on saxophones. The album was well received by fans and critics. It landed at number one spot on Billboard World Music chart. After the release of the album, Angelique embarked on her first world tour, performing at numerous festivals and concerts in 1992.
