The band from Devon, UK was formed in 1994. Members of the group are namely Christopher Wolstenholme, Matthew Bellamy and Dominic Howard. The trio came together to form the band in early nineties while attending Teignmouth Community College. Starting their performances under the name Gothic Plague the name of the band was changed several times before Muse was finalized.

The band has gone on to establish itself as a highly sought after rock band. Within the genre their music varies from rock opera, electronic, space, alternative, progressive and hard rock. There are also some elements of classical music in the band’s music which stands out most of all in their album The Resistance. Lyrics of the band have developed from having the themes of difficulties, relationships and social alienation to dealing with new world order and apocalypse. The band has done extensive worldwide tours performing in New Zealand, Canada, Australia, across Europe and Southeast Asia. America has been a popular concert destination for the band. They have headlined performances at various music festivals across America which includes Lollapalooza, Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival, Austin City Limits Music Festival and KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas.

In the past they have performed a sold out show at the famous New York Madison Square Garden. They have also taken to the stage in Las Vegas performing at the Halloween festival Vegoose. The band has done a cover of the famous song Feeling Good by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse. Virgin Airways featured their version in its TV advertisement. Their song ‘Supermassive Black Hole’ has also been featured on the soundtrack of the film Twilight and New Moon. Another single by the band ‘Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)’ was used for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Muse’ success goes beyond the boundaries of their native country. Their album ‘Black Holes and Revelations’ selling more than a million copies was a major success and went on to win Platinum Europe Award. Going on to conquer the Down Under, Muse’ single ‘Knights of Cydonia’ was voted number one in the Triple J Hottest 100 by Australian Radio.The band from across the Atlantic has received phenomenal success in States and their album The 2nd Law reached number two on the US Billboard 200. Their single Uprising was certified platinum in US and they performed it in New York at the 2009 MTV video Music Awards.
