The Recher Theatre was opened in the year 1999 in The Heart of Towson, near the Towson Town Center Mall. It all began in the year 1959, when the Towson theatre was bought by the Recher family. It ran for a few years as a cinema, but was closed in the year 1992. However, the theatre was opened up again as Rec Room Billiards in the year 1996 by Scott, Steve and Brian Recher, together known as the Recher Brothers. The place contained an incredibly tapered design and amazing acoustics and it was not long before it got turned into a live music venue. The Rec Room was known as the Billiard Room at the time, and it was reputed to be the best sound room in all of Baltimore. In addition to this, several musicians claimed that the place had an incredible vibe.

In the year 1998, the venue played host to an extremely diverse number of regional and national musicians including All Mighty Senators, Kelly Bell Band, From Good Homes, Gibb Droll Band, God Street Wine, Agents of Good Roots, Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, Pat McGee Band, Crack the Sky, String Cheese Incident and numerous more as well. The venue gained an over whelming success and support from the audience in all of its concerts, prompting the Recher brothers to turn it into a full time live music theatre, and dedicate it to featuring the most talented artists in the region. Hence, the place was named the Recher Theatre in the year 1999.

The Recher theatre has the capacity to hold seven hundred people in the audience, and includes two complete service bars as well. The place has featured the concerts of countless popular stars over the years, including Papa Roach, Linkin Park, the White Stripes, O.A.R, 30 Seconds to Mars, Cheap Trick, Breaking Benjamin, Flaming Lips among many others.
