The Mariinsky Ballet comes from Russia and its roots can be traced all the way back to the late 1738’s. That arrangement led to the ballet being given its current name, the Mariinsky Ballet. The opera was also named the Mariinsky Opera. Now both are looked after and run by the theatre.
