40 oz. to Freedom is a San Diego, California, based rock, ska, reggae and punk rock band. It is also a ‘Sublime’ tribute band, which consists of Jeremy Miller (keyboards), Sol (bass guitar), Carlos Perez (drums) and Dane Scott (lead vocals, electric and acoustic guitars). Scott has been nominated on six different occasions for San Diego Music Awards and the band, 40 oz. to Freedom has been the winner of ‘Best Tribute Band’ at the San Diego Music Awards .

40 oz. to Freedom was formed in 2007 and ever since its inception has been making headline news. It was named after one of the albums of Sublime. The band members and especially the lead singer, Dane Scott is often credited with having similar vocal quality as of Sublime’s lead singer, late Bradley Nowell . Sublime was also a California based alternative hip hop, dub, punk rock, reggae and ska punk band from 1988 to 1996. The band, which gave the world of music a self-titled album, later becoming a classic root reggae/punk/ska album unfortunately came to an abrupt end with the death of their lead singer, Bradley Nowell. Nowell died of heroin overdose. The other band members of Sublime were Eric Wilson (bass guitar) and Bud Gaugh (percussion and drums).
