Reno Aces is a baseball franchise of minor league. The team hails from Reno, Nevada. It is a Triple-A partner of Arizona Diamondbacks. It is also an associate of Pacific Coast League. SK Baseball, LLC is the owner of the team. It is a part of North Division of Pacific Conference. Other teams in it include Salt Lake Bees, Tacoma Rainiers and Colorado Spring Sky Sox. It is relatively a new team which inaugurated on the road as on April 10, 2009. They played their home opener and first ever game in the newly built Ace Ballpark on April 17, 2009. The Ace Ballpark is a state of the art newly developed park which lets you enjoy the game to its fullest. It is situated in the middle of the city near the downtown. Reno Aces enjoy the status of the region’s only first Triple-A baseball team.

Reno Aces have originated from Tucson Sidewinders active from the year 1998 to 2008. If we explore further, the team was initially called Tucson Taros , which was the Triple-A baseball club of Tucson active from 1969 to 1997. Toros has been the winners of the PCL Championship both in 1991 and 1993. The Toros moved to Fresno, California and became Fresno Grizzlies after the expansion of MLB which added Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Arizona Diamondbacks. The Phoenix Firebirds moved to Tucson and was named as the Tucson Toros for a short span of time and then were named Tucson Sidewinders. A major change occurred in 1998 when the management of the teams Phoenix Firebirds and Tucson Sidewinders swapped the teams. The Manager of Firebirds, Martin Stone bought Toros and the owner of Toros Rick Holtzman purchased Firebirds. The Tucson Sidewinders picks its history from Toros rather than Firebirds as it has taken management and other members from the Toros. In the year 2007, the announcement was made that the sidewinders would be moving to Reno, Nevada in the coming year. This move resulted in the pack up of another team Reno Silver sox. The name Reno Aces was chosen after an extensive, communitywide “Name the Team Contest”. In it, the fans submitted their chosen name online. Finally, the name “Reno Aces” was selected by the managing partner, Stuart Katzoff. According to him, this name will be suitable due to the fact that it will make a great logo, is family friendly, has regional touch and is suitable as per the game of baseball too. The fans would easily relate to it due to its name and the belief that it will bring many aces to their area.

Reno Aces was all set for their inaugural season on April 9, 2009 opposite Salt Lake Bees. But a sudden tragedy hit their opponent team. A Salt Lake Bees Alumni, Anaheim Angels’ Nick Adenhart died in a road accident on the same day. The game was played the next day April 10, 2009 in which Aces was beaten by Bees by 6 – 2. But the Aces made up for the lost game later. They won their first ever home opener game played in Aces Ballpark on April 17, 2009 against Salt Lake Bees. They won by 11 – 1. The attendance at the first game was far more than expected and the crowd of 9, 167 were present there at that day.

Reno Aces is scheduled to full games with different teams from June, 2011 onwards. This will be their third season. During a short time the team has several fans. Their home ground Aces Ballpark is usually overbooked. They have planned many new promotional activities this year. The fans get crazy to get their giveaways. They are also planning to arrange theme nights and many special events. The fans are excited to see their team play and hopefully win this season.
