Balanchine consented to the offer and came to the United States to create the organization that became the incubator for ballet in the United States. The school went through a period of struggle initially and a large amount of effort was put in to keep the company going. However, the tireless dedication of the two men against over whelming odds took the company through the rough period, finally emerging as one of the top ballet schools in the United States.

The New York City Ballet now gives countless performances for twenty three weeks in a year. Ever since the year 1966, the permanent home of the New York City Ballet has been the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. The company trains its own performers and creates its own work. It contains world class performers, a repertoire of ballets, a rich organization history and much more. The New York City Ballet is currently made up of ninety dance performers, which makes it the biggest dance company in the United States.
