The ‘Washington Nationals’, based in Washington D.C, play in the Eastern Division of the National League of MLB or the Major League Baseball. As per the original plan it was supposed to seat 41,888 people but due to security reasons some of these seats were removed, reducing the overall capacity to 41,546. Some of the seats, especially the upper decks and the first base side are located such that the Washington Monument and the Capitol can be seen from there.

The park takes its name from the stadium that was built in the early 1900’s. The ballpark used by the Washington Senators and the Washington Nationals was the National Park. That particular stadium was renamed to Griffith Stadium. The plan was to sell the naming rights of this stadium to some company for a strong bid. But the Lerner Family saw that the bids were not what they expected them to be so they stuck to the name. The Nationals Park is owned by the Washington Convention and Sports Authority .
