Known as “Mr. Clean” for his clean, family-oriented jokes, Henry Cho is one of the most admired stand-up comedians in present day United States. Cho for his unique comic style has become a darling of the media and has starred in numerous movies, television shows and radio programs. He makes you roll over with laughter with his hilarious stuff on Pandora Radio’s PG Comedy Radio Channel, Sirius Radio’s Blue Collar Radio Channel, Laugh USA, and XM Radio’s Channel 151.

Born to Korean parents in Knoxville, Tennessee, Henry Cho is a Korean American, who went to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. It was during his course of studies that he tried stand-up comedy and never went back to college again. The story goes that Cho signed up for the “funniest person in Tennessee” competition, which was sponsored by Showtime in Knoxville’s Funny Bone Comedy Club. By the time he finished his act, the crowd was on its feet; Cho got a standing ovation. The owner of the Club offered him a job right away. Couple of days later he decided to drop out of college and instead moved to Los Angeles, California, to start a career as a stand-up comedian. Since he is from the South, he calls himself “South Korean”. Because of his southern accent, he stands out in the crowd. His audiences, the ones who have never seen him before, do not expect an Asian-American with a twang. As soon as he opens his mouth, there’s laughter in the hall.

Henry Cho however does not rely on his Korean heritage to “sell” his comedy. For him, he is just a comic and nothing else. He does not do ethnic jokes either, especially not cheap ethnic jokes for easy and quick laughter. Perhaps, for what his comedy has stood for all these years, he is often invited to television shows. Cho has been on VH-1’s Stand Up Spotlight, MTV’s ½ Hour Comedy Hour, Bob Hope’s Young Comedians Special and The Arsenio Hall Show. He was further invited on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

He has also appeared on a television movie, Revenge of the Nerds III: The Next Generation. Henry Cho has been on sitcoms like The New WKRP in Cincinnati, Lenny and Designing Women. He has also appeared in movies like Material Girls, Say It Isn’t So and McHale’s Navy. In these movies he has worked with famous Hollywood stars like Tom Arnold, Heather Graham, Haylie and Hilary Duff, Chris Klein, and David Alan Grier. He has also been with Vince Gill and Amy Grant on their “Simply Christmas” tours.

For him, comedy is about life’s everyday events. When he was unmarried, he usually joked about dating and problems associated with it. When he got married, he started to talk about his life as a married man, in a comic way off course, without being disrespectful to his wife. He is known for never cussing on stage and has earned a reputation for being a clean comic. The true reflections of his style could be seen in his own show, aired on Comedy Central, titled Henry Cho: What’s That Clickin’ Noise? Famous comedians like Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall, and Jeff Foxworthy, have appeared as special guests on this show.

His influences are legendary comedians like Gary Shandling, Jerry Seinfeld, Steve Allen, Rodney Dangerfield and the one and only Bob Hope. Henry Cho has also worked with Hope and Seinfeld. He had only just started when Seinfeld advised him to write jokes for television audience. Seinfeld had realized that Cho was going to be on television a lot. Henry Cho is all praise for Hope and says, “I have one show biz picture in my house. It’s with Mr. Hope. I have asked for one autograph in my life; Mr. Hope’s.”

Cho, “Mr. Clean” has now decided to go old school; adult comedy but suitable for the whole family. In his own words, his new comic style would be “Kind of Andy Griffith meets Bill Cosby meets Bob Newhart.” This sure sounds like fun! So go and check out this very funny guy with his all new comic act by buying Henry Cho Tickets!
